NextEnergy utilizes our innovative testing capabilities and assets to provide demonstration and validation services for advanced energy technologies, components and systems. Whether a specific project for an industry partner or a publicly funded research and development program, we routinely provide demonstration, commercialization, and program management services to industry.

Vehicle Electrification

NextEnergy is currently working with Michigan’s automotive, utility, and electronics industries for the development and validation of charging infrastructure to support the deployment of next generation electric vehicles. This collaborative effort will help us to better understand and communicate the business case for multiple advanced grid and renewable energy applications.

Next Generation Energy Efficiency

Energy Efficiency is often identified as the “low hanging fruit” in energy strategy. Most statewide renewable energy standards have energy efficiency savings targets in parallel that can be reached in part with renewable energy generation. New technologies need to be created to meet these targets moving forward, and NextEnergy is actively engaged in demonstrating and validating new solutions.

Advanced Grid

The advanced grid is the seamless integration of onsite power generation, energy storage, advanced energy efficiency technologies, and software controls to optimize the reliability and effectiveness of the grid on both sides of the meter. Through our involvement in nationally supported technology development and commercialization projects, NextEnergy is helping to address the technical, economic, and policy barriers to accelerate commercially viable solutions.

Community Energy Storage
A primary barrier to large-scale adoption of renewable energy is one Michiganders are all too familiar with: weather is unpredictable and inconsistent. Unlike a coal or natural gas-fired power plant, production of energy from wind turbines and solar panels cannot be adjusted to meet changes in energy demand.

Electronic Power Control and Conditioning Program
The future of renewable power generation is intertwined with the management of power. The integration of new power sources into the existing power grid is pivotal to their effectiveness. NextEnergy has been working on the management of power associated with renewable sources for the past eight years.
