The NextEnergy Center is located in TechTown, Detroit's Entrepreneurial High-Tech Village.  This urban Detroit location has been designated an Alternative Energy Renaissance Zone by the City of Detroit and offers a 20 year state and local tax exemption for companies that locate and perform AET research, development, and manufacturing.

The Michigan NextEnergy Authority (MNEA) was created to promote the development of alternative energy technologies and to provide tax incentives for business activities and property related to research, development, and manufacturing of those technologies.
