Michigan Funding & Incentives for Alternative Energy Technology Companies

21st Century Jobs Fund Competition
The 21st Century Jobs Fund fosters growth in life sciences, alternative energy, advanced automotive technologies and homeland security industries through funding and resource collaboration, focusing on emerging technology sectors.  The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has funding available for the Michigan 21st Century Jobs Fund Competition.

SBIR/STTR Emerging Business Fund
One million dollars in the Michigan Technology Tri-Corridor Small Business Innovative Research Emerging Business Fund is available to companies seeking Phase I SBIR grants. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation will match 15% of your SBIR grant, up to $15,000, if you let us know that you are applying for SBIR Phase I funding in the technology tri-corridor industry areas.

Venture Capital Funding
Michigan's venture funding initiatives are designed to improve access to private venture capital for Michigan growth-oriented firms. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation has developed a comprehensive directory of Michigan resources involved with venture funding, including more detailed profiles of venture funds and their interests.

Michigan Fund of Funds
The Venture Michigan Fund was created to promote Michigan’s economic health by assisting in the creation of new jobs, new businesses, and new industries within Michigan through investment in early stage growth companies. The VMF is designed to make investments ONLY in venture capital funds and does NOT make any investments in start-ups. The MEDC & the Michigan Venture Capital Association (MVCA) led the formation of a $300 million Fund-of-Funds program to catalyze the growth of venture capital in Michigan.
