NextEnergy is the lead organizer of the Michigan Wind Energy Manufacturing Working Group with the support of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Michigan Public Service Commission, Michigan State Energy Office, Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center and Western Michigan University.
The mission of this group is to advance the capacity and capabilities in the state of Michigan for designing, engineering, and manufacturing wind systems. This group allows wind turbine companies and the skilled Michigan manufacturing supply chain to establish mutually beneficial relationships to help improve the efficiency of wind energy systems and the manufacturing infrastructure to support growth in the North America.
To date, supplier match making events have been held to support the following companies…
- Wind Turbine Manufacturers: GE, Clipper, Siemens, Vestas, Acciona, Ecotecnia, Nordic Windpower, Heron Mfg, Franklin Energy
- Component Manufacturers: SKF, Danotek, Moventas, FlexSys
Michigan is home to over 25 companies who supply components or manufacturing services to the wind industry. Michigan also has over 900 companies that have been identified to have the core competencies to provide design, engineering, machining, automation or assembly services to the growing wind market. The below link demonstrates the state’s capabilities including a short list of Michigan component and manufacturing suppliers that provide unique systems and services to support the wind energy industry.
