The mission of the Advancing Hydrogen in Michigan Working Group is to create an environment to advance the implementation and utilization of Hydrogen as a fuel in the State of Michigan. The Working Group’s objectives are driven by the Codes & Standards project managed by NextEnergy which is part of the Department of Energy Hydrogen Fleet Demonstration and Validation Program. This Codes & Standards program includes documenting permitting experiences for Hydrogen facilities and developing a streamlined permitting process, as well as the development of education and awareness programs for emergency first responders and local officials. In addition, Working Group objectives include the promotion of existing Hydrogen infrastructure to increase its usage. Participants include automotive OEMs, energy companies, government entities, and others having a stake in Hydrogen infrastructure in the State of Michigan.
The Hydrogen Working Group facilitated by NextEnergy disbanded after having met its chief objective about a year ago. Now, the meetings that take place are with a select project team specifically on the Hydrogen Codes & Standards project. The original working group is currently not active.
