Microgrid Power Generation Pavilion
NextEnergy has built and brought on-line
one of the first microgrid research pavilions in the nation. This
clustered network of independent power sources serves as a platform
to test new technologies for electric power generation.
Our unique configuration allows multiple researchers to plug their
technologies into segregated units of the microgrid, and to validate
them over time, working out the bugs under varying circumstances in
a live, functioning power generation system.
The pavilion includes:
- Onsite electrical power generation capable of running
parallel or linked to the main utility grid.
- Accommodation for multiple generation technologies – from
renewable energy sources to hydrogen fuel cells to alternative
fuels and more.
- Thermal recovery for local hot and chilled water systems.
- Modular design allowing cost-effective installation of
new technologies.
NextEnergy is currently one of the only
opportunities in the nation for independent researchers to test and
advance such technologies.
