Formed in July 2004, the panel is responsible for providing oversight of
NextEnergy's technical initiatives.
Bernard Robertson -
A private consultant for transportation and energy challenges, Robertson is a retired Senior Vice President of DaimlerChrysler Corporation, where he specialized for many years in fuel, energy, emissions and powertrain engineering, and had responsibility for hybrid-electric, battery-electric and fuel cell development.
Dr. John Wilson -
A chemical and materials engineer, Dr. Wilson has spent his career in the energy industry working with entities such as British Gas, Exxon Research & Engineering Co., Shell Canada’s Oil Sands operation and Shell Development Company. Since 1987, John has worked with clients on the production of energy products and materials from renewable sources such as biomass and purpose-grown crops. He has written extensively about the hydrogen economy, biofuels, and global warming.
Dr. Vernon Parker Roan, Jr. -
A retired professor of Mechanical Engineering, Roan has been honored for decades for his extensive research and publications in fuels, fuel cells, electric and hybrid vehicles, energy-efficiency, transportation systems and wind energy. He serves as technical advisor or as a board member to numerous government commissions, universities, corporations and industry groups.
Dr. Ralph Overend -
Since 1990, Ralph has provided technical leadership in biomass for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, including field management of DOE's Biomass Power program. His contributions to the field include thermochemical conversion, biomass pretreatment, and both bench-scale and large-scale biomass gasification systems. Prior to this he was manager of the Bioenergy Program for the National Research Council of Canada. Winner of numerous awards, Ralph has co-authored 225 peer-reviewed publications and presented more than 150 lectures and talks nationally and internationally.
